sir what brand of camera are you using? and in this particular photo in quiapo the men playing chess were you not afraid to shoot them or did you ask permission first before doing so?

i used Canon EOS 1000D with kit lens and battery grip. in street photography, i don’t usually ask permission in order to preserve the natural scene, emotions and reactions,etc. i’m afraid that if i ask for permission to take their photos, it would look like a studio portrait rather than street photography/photojournalism. and to prevent any violent reaction from the subject, just give them a sweet natural smile if you are caught. and just in case they ask you why are you taking their pictures, give ‘em an honest and polite answer… i usually walk alone. unless i’m teaching…
